Windows 11 - Microsoft's Walled Garden. (Dire Warning)

I doubt Windows will last as long as a consumer OS for this to happen. The way things are moving, we’re all going to swap to another OS before this.

Those of us in here are above average technical competency and likely will, but the lowest common denominator average Joe, likely won’t.

As an example, Linux gamin is a hot topic these days, and in nay online conversation about gaming, lots of people talk about how they game on Linux.

Based on these conversations one might get the impression there is a mass exodus to Linux for even your average joe gamer, but if we look at Steam’s Hardware Survey even with these changes, Linux use on Steam is still only at about 3%. ~95% are still on Windows. 2% are on MacOS.

We have to remember that we are outliers, not reflective of the general population.

I very much suspect windows will die out for end users because the desktop is dead for normies and the laptop is not long for this world.

Tablets and dedicated gaming devices will take the bulk of the market and none of those run windows. Outside of Xbox.

Yeah, I’m giving it 5 years to be honest, and then there will be a sizeable amount of people.
