This is important news.
Coming up next: The story of the OS that just could not say no. Windows: The Inside Story. Next on Fox: News at 11.
Good thing I began the linux transition in time. This is pretty shitty, because a) it's goddamn bloat and b) it's Microshaft playing favorites with developers, a bad precedent to set.
I jumped to Linux so thats awesome....BUT
I have a whole family of windows users and I've been chosen as the go to man. I really want to fake my death.
Tell them that as the sysadmin of the family you need to roll out some upgrades and install Gentoo on everything.
I don't understand why this is news. like Nothing these days don't come with bloatware anyways.. all they really did was tell you ahead of time.
To keep this conversation going a bit.. I Have a Question..
What is Bloatware?
Apps that that are either heavy and or come with your OS, and aren't used.
That's my definition of what i think bloatware is..
What may be bloatware to some, may be a convenience to others. but since people seem to have convenient amnesia, You guys act like a few Linux distros aren't guilty of installing non-sense you may not use.
On my Preferred Linux Distro, I don't use LibreOffice, or The Amazon App, or the built-in-music player.. so are they bloatware? I think so.. do you think they are bloatware? probably not. the concept of Bloatware is Subjective. BUT everyone is guilty of installing Bloatware on your OS. and don't forget about Android too. like Google or Cyanogenmod don't install things prior to purchase. or Flashing a Custom Rom.
Long story short, everyone is guilty of Bloatware, depending on how you define bloatware. and none of this should come as a surprise. most of these pre-installed games were on Windows before. just uninstall them and move on.
@Kat I think the reason this is news is that Microsoft picked it up after all the bad press that game got recently and im sure that has got it some disdain from many users of this forum because of that.
Usually the bloatware (I would argue that a shitty mobile game is bloatware) is installed by system manufacturers instead of the OS developer. That's why this is news.
Ugh, what has the world coming to......
Don't get me wrong I don't exactly like Microsoft and I definitely prefer Linux but it this really a big deal? I mean Windows 7 had solitaire, minesweeper, ETC, and nobody here seemed to complain about it. So what's the big deal with bringing these few programs back, it's not like they take up that much space or resources. Believe me Microsoft deserves a lot of the hate it gets but this doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
Well then, I know what to delete first after I upgrade...
This is not exactly the same as Microsoft's own little games, it's a third party cash cow game.
It's a 'marketing ploy' from Microsoft, as a large female demographic tends to like playing Candy Crush Saga, so Microsoft is 'playing' to a captive audience; with Microsoft it's: Marketing, Marketing, and Marketing (the story of MS's life)
This 'ploy' also keeps (female) PC-users loyal to Microsoft Win-10, and future product roll-outs.
*Collusion between the PC-manufacturers, and MS play a pivotal role here (marketing)
Not when this game is so controversial. All the language, sex, violence... I mean, imagine if Doom came preinstalled with Windows XP. It would be ten times worse than that.
So? we are beginning to get answers about the cost of the free windows. LOL They are so predictable. MOAR ! Bloatware and spyware. Please! I want my system to run like crap and spy on me at the same time. :) Thus, the answer to the question. It's free but what is the catch? Wait for it? It will get worse. ha ha ha ha ha ha.................................................................. When they were talking about windows moving toward a more service based approach. They were not talking about consumer services. :) They were talking about corporate services like forcing the consumer to take unwanted software, ad spam, and data mining your personal data.
God the Windows hate in this post.
What can we do under Windows? Uninstall stuff, literally, metro apps take about 45 seconds to uninstall. I'll agree that some of the things that MS has chosen to do with Windows 10 annoy me as a sysadmin, the removal of GP from the tech preview being the most annoying, but shit like this:
This type of stuff is sensational, you're all making a mountain out of a molehill. Ubuntu software center, serves ADs right inside of the operating system, and no one gets up in arms. You Linux guys need to think before you speak.
Harsh but truth.
Im only a new linux guy because MS is so bad.
This is the exact feature I've always wanted in a Microsoft OS. Thanks for answering my prayers Microsoft.
This is just amusing to me.
I don't see how i got lumped in with the linux guys?
