Windows 10 Search Box Not Working!

Hello friends, I am new to this forum and this is my first post here. I recently encountered a serious problem with the Windows 10 search box. When I try to type something in there, I can’t. I checked my computer to see if there were any mechanical problems, but it was fine. Then I do not understand why this is happening. Please help me friends to fix it.

My System Configuration Are:

Processor - AMD Ryzen 5 3400G
OS - Windows 10 Pro
RAM - Corsair Vengeance DDR4 8GB*2 3200MHz
Storage - SSD WD 240GB
HDD - Barracuda 1TB
GPU: NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1650 Super
Motherboard - MSI B450 Tomahawk Max

As a workaround, install some program like Everything.
Serves me better than the Windows search (because it actually finds things…)

Hy @JusticeSchmeler,

You can try running Troubleshooting and see if fix it: Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > View History. Also, it may need to check for updates.

tried the info on that link a few weeks back. didnt work.
i tried all the uninstall this update, didnt work.
tried the task scheduler. and its a work around rather than a fix. but its the only fix i found to work.

Hey, I did a quick research and many users find this fix to work out:

  1. Open File Explorer and go to C:Windowssystem32.
  2. Inside the directory, search for ctfmon.exe.
  3. Right-click on ctfmon.exe and click Open.
  4. Close the File Explorer.

doest work mate. already tried. you end up typing the same thing in 3-4 or more times a session.
also did the powershell, again didnt work.

i came up with the work around because the info on that page didnt work for me. :frowning:
