Windows 10 on a new SSD?

Will the windows 10 download be able to be put on a different drive than the one that is currently running windows 8.1? I am looking to upgrade my boot drive from a kingston v300 SSDnow to a PCI-e based SSD. Just wanted to know.
Thanks.

You can put the Windows 10 iSO on a flash drive and the install Windows 10 on a different hard-drive just fine. just remember that if you have a official copy of Windows 8.1 you WILL get a free copy of Windows 10 on that drive.

BUT if you are running the preview on separate hard drive. it will remain activated until the official release. but if you want a free official copy on the Drive that has the technical preview, you will need to make sure that you sign in to your Microsoft account that you used to join the Windows Insider Program on Windows 10 and make sure it stays signed on. you'll receive the final copy of Windows 10 via Windows update on the technical preview.

So im gonna be stuck with the kingston? I never installed my technical preview.

i mis-understood your question. i thought you meant that you wanted to have a separate hard-drive for both Windows 10. and Windows 8.1

If you have the little Windows icon on you desktop that shows you are eligible for Windows 10 on your Windows 8.1 desktop you're fine. you can transfer your Windows 8.1 OS to any other drive like you normally would. it doesn't interfere with your upgrade to Windows 10.

Remember that Windows icon that shows up on your desktop showing that you are eligible for an upgrade is because of a Windows update.

Okay thanks for clarifying.
