Window arrangement gets messed up after unlock

Hello!

Every time I unlock my Windows 10 desktop, the window arrangement gets rearranged (everything moves to the primary display, sometimes window positions move randomly).

This is very annoying, since I often lock my desktop.

I have a 1070, a 3440x1440 display (primary), and a 1440p display (secondary).

I never had issues like that on macOS or KDE.

I looked around on the internet, and it seems that this is related to DisplayPort. Every time the display go to sleep, Windows thinks that it is unplugged, and it starts moving around the windows.

Does anybody know a proper workaround? Is there a way to make windows wait with the rearrangement until after the screen is unlocked?

Do not think I have noticed that before…but I am running a mix of DP and Hdmi. You might reorder your primary connection ? Might also be a cable issue ?

Could possibly be a video driver issue. Maybe tweak your power saving options to not put the machine into such a low power state. On a modern desktop you’re probably not saving a huge amount of watts anyway between off and on but idle.

My desktops, I never let them sleep.

My machine don’t go to sleep at all. I just lock it, then the displays turn off. When I move the the mouse, the displays turn on.
