Win 10 Laptop Gaming Graphicscard doesnt work

Hi all!

I upgraded today to Win 10 on my laptop. It has an Intel onboard graphicschip and an Nvidia 840M. My problem here is that it won't use the Nvidia to start games (e.g. FIFA 15) and I cant change it, it seems that it even doesnt recognize the gaming graphicscard, it doesnt appear in the settings...
Does anyone know a solution or has same problems?

There is an issue with onboard graphics in Win10.

Basically the on board chip stops the other graphics chip from being activated/updated.

Manually download the latest drivers for your graphics chip and install them. Then disable your on board graphics chip - everything should then default to your 840m chip

That is at least what I did to my laptop - happy gaming

Thanks for your solution, but I would need sometimes the intern chip, just for battery saving purposes, is there no other solution, with the two working?

there's three things i must say

  • Right now Nvidia has broken drivers for Windows 10. I don't know if they have been fixed yet, but there has been a MASSIVE fiasco on Nvidia's end.
  • Are you using battery saver? cause if you have this on, your system will strictly use the iGPU on the Intel CPU.
  • Check to see if you are running the latest Nvidia driver on Geforce Experience

No, I'm not using battery saving mode. I'll check for another update, may that helps
