Initially, I was planning on running Ubuntu server on bare metal and running all my services there. For windows, I was planning on just somehow getting a VM working on that headless server. I have since found out about Proxmox and I’m probably going to go down that route now instead. Question is, how does ZFS work on Proxmox? If I install some OS in a VM, will that OS enjoy all the benefits of the underlying ZFS wizadry of the underlying Proxmox install?
Correct. If you have a ZFS pool as storage in Proxmox, your VM disks will be stored there as Zvols. Means you get all the benefits from ZFS on those VMs. Pretty straight forward if you create the pool during Proxmox install.
Cool, thanks!
