intel core i5 3570
8gb 1600mhz corsair vengence ram
and a gtx 650 1gb
what settings/fps am i looking at getting
Your CPU is okay.
For the most part mid-high cutom settings dwindling between 30-60 fps depending on particle effects and whatnot for battlefield. Planetside... well I did some testing sometime ago and the absolute lowest GPU I got it to run from was a GT 440 lowest settings, max FOV at 30 fps max and about 15 fps lowest.
I have tried it with a 680 at max everything and I still drop under more fps than I am happy with.
PS2 is rather unoptimised right now so I would say at least you are looking at normal settings 30 fps on a healthy populated Continent.
Other new games, well if they are multiplayer as stated above if you are one of those who are looking for max fps and max settings it is going to take a beating here and there.
I am sure one of the AMD guys in here will recommend you a card that will outperform the 650 as well as being cheaper.
7850 or 7770.
in ps2 even my 2 7950's don't get reasonable framerates at maxed settings. when i am outside and there isn't a battle it gets roughly 60 fps constant but as soon as there is a large engagement it drops down to about 30-40 constant and even dipping into the teens if something crazy is happening. ps2 is crazy unoptomized
