Hey guys first post! I am looking to get a variation of the GTX 660 ti for my aging PC. I hope to just stuff it into this old computer until im ready to buy a new one. My only concern is that the 660 Ti is 2gb. I remember reading in a Cnet review of my PC that the max video memory was 1gb. ( That review is here http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/gateway-lx-6810-01/4507-3118_7-33513654.html ) So will the 660 Ti just flat out not work? Or will it only use 1gb of memory, or work just fine? I understand the power supply isn't sufficient for the graphics card, ill be buying a new one with the card. Currently i have a 650 Ti. ALSO: how badly is my CPU bottlenecking me in games in 1080p? just curious. Thanks a lot guys! :)
You can't just stuff new parts into a pre built rig. For one thing, the PSU will not be able to handle it.
Aha yes, i know its not the greatest thing to do, but i will be buying a power supply to go with it as i mentioned :) And the 650 Ti seems to be doing fine and i just stuffed that in... haha. I just need to know if the 660 ti will work on this mobo!
Should work then, though in my opinion that PC is not really worth upgrading.
So it will work 2gb and all? Mother of god.... thats awesome. Thanks! :D
