Will SEDs Come Back?

Dear everone at Tek Syndicate (Wendel specifically, since I found one video where you show your face ... MUAHAHAHA!)

Will SEDs ever come back? We have been stuck on sluggish LED and LCD technology for way too long, CRTs are dead, and their successors, the SEDs, were killed because of patents and, according to Canon, the internation financial meltdown.

The prototypes of those displayes were amazing. When I read thie quote below from the Wikipedia article I cringe at how terrible LCDs and LEDs are compared to SEDs.
From the Wiki article: "Canon's 55" prototype SED offered bright images of 450 cd/m2, 50,000:1 contrast ratios, and a response time of less than 1 ms. Canon has stated that production versions would improve the response time to 0.2 ms and 100,000:1 contrast ratios."

So, do you think they will ever come back?

Best regards.
