today i am asking if a PCI-E 2.1 or 3.0 will work in a 1. or 1.0 PCI-E slot i am tight on money but i do need a new graphics card and all i have found are 550TI and 560TI i do like both of these cards but i would like a new gen card for the future (next year) such as a 650TI or 7750 i am a XFX fan for radeon cards and i prefer asus for nvida because i like there dcu2 builds and there cards look amazing i dont have to wory about bottle necking with my cpu its a intel core 2 quad OC to 3.2GHZ and i am running a GTX260 card that i got for free a few days ago its nice but its too hot and quite old any help would be great thanks.
Any PCI-E card will fit but most motherboards require a bios update for them to work if its 2.1 or higher in a 1x slot. As you didn't list the motherboard I can't tell you for sure. If the system is prebuilt (acer,dell,etc) then support has probably long been gone. Check your motherboard website.
not gonna help getting a new card if your system predates pcie 2.1
