Will my desk hold these and 2 monitors? Afraid to try as I do not want to destroy my desk

you'll be fine unless your desk has a lot of water damage or is falling apart already.

just make sure there is load support. i plan on getting arms and my desk is particle board but the top sits on the sides at the left and right edges, there is no center support. i'll have to put something in the middle that is straight up and down. on this desk a 16" long piece of 1X (1 by) lumber screwed to the back edge of the desk and the regular backing will work.

Thanks guys. I can mount it on the corner of the L desk, which is really thick and sturdy

Also, i wouldnt use self-tapping screws for mounting either, you'll be far better off bolts and "locking" nuts all the way through the desk, with some nice ( large OD ) washers to spread the load a little bit....

Trust me.... i sell fasteners for a living... and the amount of times i hear "these wood screws just pulled right out of the wall" every day... I think it might actually give me cancer....
