Will my 1156 motherboard work with windows 8?

I have an Asrock P55 pro USB3 mother board for my i7 870, i have windows 7 currently. But after seeing the windows 8 videos Logan posted a while back i want to upgrade. But i don't know if my motherboard drivers will work so i was wondering if any one could help me with if i am able to upgrade. Also if you have had any luck with an older motherboard like mine with windows 8. Thanks.

I can run Windows 8 on an anemic dual core at 2GHz there should be no reason why you would not be able to run it. The computer originally ran Windows Vista. If anything the current drivers that are on your motherboard should be automatically installed at set up or if there is compatibility issues just install the drivers from the website. If you want just try to find a windows 8.1 evaluation copy and boot it off a usb to see if your computer has any problems. You could create a 32GB partition on your current hard drive or find an old one laying around.

You can download the Enterprise evaluation copy here (LINK) free for 90 days but you will need a Windows Live/Hotmail/Outlook account to download it.

It may or may not work with or without some quirks. The board was designed for Windows 7, and no driver support for Windows 8 specifically, but I would that the Win7 drivers might work. What I will say is that I got my laptop working on the Windows 8 beta with no real issue playing Mass Effect 2. My laptop is a Core 2 Duo T9600 and a PM45 chipset (4GB DDR3, 512MB ATi Mobility 4650); no additional drivers needed. So, in your case, you may not even need to download additional drivers. Again, may or may not, with or without.

Personally, I don't think it's worth the upgrade. I got so frustrated with Windows 8 I deleted the entire partition for internet cache on my Linux Mint install - now my once gaming laptop is completely Windows-less.

i already have a full copy of windows 8.1 from school for free so ill try that if not ill just go back to win 7 because my ssd is only 120gb

ya that's pretty much what i figured,  but its good to know it worked for you. i don't pay for windows any more because of my school has a partnership with Microsoft, so i thought if it will work better why not try since i already have the disc.thanks for the advice
