Will it fit? (first build help)

Looking to build a computer for Christmas, and I'm a bit worried about it not fitting in the case that I've chosen.

Of course I'm English so I have a budget of about £600, however my Birthday is 60 days after so I can get things that I don't have the money for, I don't expect this to be a problem because I get more from family and also I have a few pounds saved.

My system that I would like to build will be listed below, but I will be open for suggestions, Thank you.

So will this all fit, and will the motherboard work and what would people recommend?

Thanks, pxseidxn.

Weak motherboard.  If you want to get an 8 core CPU from AMD, get a better motherboard.

Get an air cooler.  The Seidon 120V performs about on par with the much cheaper Cooler Master Hyper 212.

Get a WD Blue or Black drive or a Seagate drive.  Greens have terrible reliability.  They are slow and I would only recommend them for archival storage.

About 70 pounds over.

Completely agree about getting an air cooler and switching to WD blue. The motherboard is okay..... for the setup.

However the thing is that prices can change a lot given how far from now he wants to buy the comp, so who knows, the setup may come under budget

Wow, thank you both a lot; the motherboard was a recommendation from a friend but sure I'll look into a better one. So no water cooling and a better motherboard with a more reliable hard drive. Anything else would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Also would a higher spec water cooler work better or should I just get the recommended air cooler?

Go for air cooling first if you can.  Air cooling has less points of failure(e.g. no pump.  If the pump fails in a watercooler, you're screwed)., is cheaper, and many can perform very similarly to some expensive 240mm radiators.

Also, keep in mind that watercooling doesn't magically make your CPU output less heat.

Just to put things into perspective...

here is your build: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/KbZ4YJ

Here is what you could get (my opinion): http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/9y7D7P

Benefits:

  • More powerful CPU (even after overclocking an 8350)
  • More powerful GPU
  • Much better motherboard

Cons:

  • Smaller SSD
  • Will need to use old HDD or wait to buy an HDD

I really wouldnt put money into an 8350.. they are just aging and a xeon 1230v3 is faster even after you overclock... I would rather get an i5 and overclock it later.. its also faster and cheaper. The 750ti isnt a good match for your CPU.. if you are playing games, then you should spend more money on the GPU than the CPU... But I didn't know if you were doing video editing or anything else.

If you really need the HDD space, then you could do something like this: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/JhLVmG

This processor is quite as strong.. but it is more than enough for the graphics power. It won't be holding you back.

The Intel would perform better?

Even with the 8 core 8350 at 4.2ghz?

And i would be gaming, school work, coding.

you need a better mobo if you plan to go with the FX8350

Okay, so better motherboard with more gpu power and a more reliable hard drive with a air cooler?

Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 would be a good board to look at. 6+2 powerphase digi vrm,

I´m still thinking about the idea of the Xeon, offcourse an overclocked FX would probably be faster with codding, however the xeon uses les power, does not need an expensive mobo, and cooler.. Intel has a better single core performance which helps in gaming offcourse.

Better GPU: i would say look at something like an R9-270.

AMD option: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/fMfst6

Intel option: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/MtxLFT

Yes, the xeon and i7 (4th generation) are faster than the 8350 even after overclocking... UNLESS you get an overclock at 4.8 ghz or higher, but that means investing a lot more money into high end coolers and a much more expensive motherboard... which will have to be full size ATX motherboard.. micro ATX isn't a viable option for 8 core AMD overclocking.. The processors and chipsets are older, but there are still some very good full size ATX boards.. but it really isnt worth it after you dump all this money into it. It is more expensive than the intel options and there is no guarantee that you will get that high of an overclock.

Perhaps Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 AM3+? It has an 8+2 power phase.

The GA-970A-UD3 had a lot of issues.  The newer GA-970A-UD3P is much better.

Whats this pc's primary use? Gaming? Editing? or just general pc?

School work, general use, gaming.

That motherboard is far superior to any 970 motherboard as far as overclocking and performance goes, it just lacks features.

Well since you're getting it at christmas you shouldn't really worry about it right now since there will be most likely new gpus released before that but anyway, since i live in ireland and use amazon on a daily basis i have a pretty solid build:

It's £8 pounds over the budget but shouldn't be much of a hassle. You get everything with this except maybe additional fans. You can change the case that will fit your taste, there are sales going on a lot of the time on amazon so you might be able to get some good deals.

Oops forgot PSU XD.Corsair CX600 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Builder-Series-Bronze-Supply/dp/B009RMP44O/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1407325116&sr=8-2&keywords=600w+psu .You can swap it out for the SSD and get the SSD later
