I want to build the $350 Cheap Ass Gaming rig, but I also want to trow in a dedicated Graphics Card. Here's the specs:
AMD A10-5800K 3.8GHz
G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1866

No bottlenecks. And yes, 600W is more than enough. But I'd keep it there so you can have enough power for overclocking and/ or a better graphics card. But if you want, don't buy the 7770, and live off the iGPU for now. It's fairly powerful, can max out some games at 1080p or 720p, and will do for now. You can use some of the money saved to buy an aftermarket cooler if you want to OC, and you'll get even more performance out of both the CPU and iGPU. Then save up some money, and when you have enough, buy something like a 7870 or 660.
Hi, A 500watt good quality 80+ certified (Corsair, Seasonic ect) psu will be a better choice because from what a understand the efficiency of a psu is based on its working load, so you dont really want to get more than you need. Im personally using a seasonic 80+ Bronze 520watt in my system with a HD7770.
As for the cpu, I would suggest the fx4300 as its a better cpu (Its has level 3 cach for example), Im not sure how prices are in your country. But in mine the they are priced about the same.
The 7770 isnt realy the best bang for buck. But its still a very capably card if your on a tight budget.
So, is the A10 one of the best choices for my money???
From the research that I have done, the best performance for gaming is to pair the apu with the 6670. From what I understand it is the only gpu compatible with running dual graphics with the A-10.
jahungamoose- That and a 6450. I think there were others, though.
woodsy993- The efficiency of a PSU is based on it's input/output ratio. I don't see how anyone would not like getting more power. It's more future-proof and IMO( as long as it's a quality PSU) can handle energy spikes better
necroman.psycho- Yes. Can you show me the list in pcpartpicker? I'm kinda curious how you got an A10 and 7770 under $350. And also, we could help/ recommend you on the other parts.
Z- Actually everything comes from Newegg and total price (plus shipping AND excluding the 7700, the thing is that i wanted the card to get more FPS on my games but it was going to be an extra) Since I can't find my MB on pcpartpicker I'll have to write it down:
CPU: A10-5800k $129.99
MB: MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 $67
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX600 $72
Memory: GSkill Sniper Series 2 x 4Gb DDR3 1866 $50
HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 500GB $60
Case: LOGISYS Computer CS301BK Black solid 6.0mm SECC metal ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 480W Power Supply (I'm not touching this PSU) $37
The 7770 a Sapphire $121
Total price + Shipping: $535
I agree that future-proofing is a good idea, but if hes on a budget should we not recommend that extra money go into something else?.
Such as?? I
Put that money into a am3+ board (ASRock 970 PRO3 AM3+ is $13 more for example) and the fx4300 is the same price as the a10.
if your using a 7770 for graphics you dont need a apu as they cant run in hybrid-crossfire. youre better of with a faster cpu.
So, if I were to buy the A10 it would not be that much of a good option because I plan to use a dedicated graphics card, right??
if you are planing on buying it all at once and not adding the 7770 in later, then yes thats correct
woodsy993 is correct. If you're buying a GPU and APU at the same time, that it completely defeats the idea of buying an APU. If it were a card that you could XFire with the APU, than it would be more reasonable. But if not, then for the price of the APU, you could have gotten a better CPU.
If you don't mind not having crazy graphics for now, and don't mind maxing out at 720p or turning down some settings at 1080p, with the intent of saving up more to buy dedicated graphics later, the A10 is the best choice.
If you wan't better graphics NOW( and slightly better CPU), the 4300+ 7850 is the better choice( if a 4300+7850 fit's your budget, if not, a 965 is a cheaper alternative without sacrificing too much performance, and still be faster than the APU)
If it were me, and I was on a low budget, I'd go with the first choice. Sure, for now you have worst graphics than buying a dedicated graphics card, but later on, when you save enough, you could buy a graphics card that is totally faster than the one you would've bought earlier. You could even buy a CPU cooler( preferably when you bought all the parts[ minus the card]) to OC the CPU and IGP in the APU to increase performance.
