Will GTAV PC (potentially) be the next PC hardware benchmark?

So GTA V has been around for a while now and still no PC version. But the game pushing the consoles to their absolute limits and still looks absolutely awefull. This game has great potential in terms of graphics and performance on PC and may even be the next Crysis for benchmarkers.

I would be interested to hear what you guys on the forum think about this.

If the GTA IV port is any indication, not an ice cube's chance in hell. The PC port is an afterthought and will like be very poorly optimized, resulting in poor performance regardless of hardware configuration.

But even if they did optimize properly, this was designed for yesterday's consoles, so it well inherently not be demanding relative to today's gaming PC's.

It will be probably be a benchmark standard, but not for any technical reason - it will be pury based on popularity and demand; gamers will want to know how the record breaking game will run on their configuration before they buy it.

GTA 5 Leaked Code shows PC Version is the base version and is finished. PC was lead platform?

Apparently the PC was the lead platform so the console version are ports, which is good news for us if true.

Well that isn't conclusive, but definitely promising. Here's to hoping! :)

I think GTA 5 wont be a benchmark due to its graphical fidelity, I think it will only be a benchmark due to its popularity.

I think the Witcher 3 or Watch_Dogs will be better PC benchmarks.
