Will an i7 4930k Bottleneck a GTX 770 2gb?

I plan to get a single GTX 770 2gb card to run with a 6-core 4930k.

Are these components well matched? (I can't quite justify the extra £250 for a GTX 780 ti)

I intend to render 3d scenes with Maya and do a bit of gaming.

:)

The 4930K is the second most powerful CPU on the market, 4 titans won't even bottleneck a 4930K

Also an R9 290 or 290X would be better suited to the 4930K

http://cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html  this list begs to differ, assuming you include xeons, Why not pick up a 780 instead of a 780ti

http://cpubenchmark.net/overclocked_cpus.html  if you OC it actually goes down a few pegs :p

Actually 4 titans will bottle neck a 4930K even if it's overclocked!

Awesome, I wanted to check this config with you guys before purchasing the 770 2gb. Do you think it's the best GPU for the job and price range?

Nope, no bottleneck. I think its a great pick for the 4930k, they have a 770 on sale right now for $269.99 on NCIX, I grabbed a 2nd 770 for my backup rig actually!!

The 4930K is the second most power CPU that can be reasonably purchased at the consumer level (I'm not including Xeons because the good ones are way more than even the 4960X)

With how poorly 4 way SLI scales I doubt there would be a bottleneck

The 780 is still £140 more than a 770 2gb. I'm not sure if the 780 is worth getting for 9 extra frames when gaming.

Awesome! What are the limitations when you game with a single 770? Do you use a single 1080p monitor? I was hoping I'll be able to get decent frames with a single 2k screen.

770 does well for 1440p. If your not satisfied Then get a 780 or a r9 290, better performance for bigger screens.

I have a HD 7970 and a R9 290x, and I can tell you that it is worth it. That step up is the difference between Very High Settings to Extreme/Ultra settings. You can just crank up to higher settings.

lel can't believe I've just read that a 4930k would bottleneck a 770. It probably won't bottleneck any gpu even 5 years from now. probably. I don't really see any major performance improvements from generation to generation when it comes to CPUs,kinda sad. the upcoming 8 core 5960x might break the ice though. But that pricepoint though

I doubt

4 titans would not make much sence because of the miniscule amount of fps the fourth card adds so let's say you only had 3 titans.

First of having 3 titans in SLI on a 1080p screen you would only get about  30% GPU usage on each card which means that the CPU is the bottleneck, but if we would have a higher resolurion let's say 5760x1080 then the GPU usage would be around 90%+.

Here you can clearly see that the fps is increased when the clock gets higher, you could increase the clock to 5GHz+ and the fps would still get higher.

(It's a 3770k but it would be the same on the 4930k just with higher fps.)

well the 770 with 4930, if you are an hardcore gamer, then this is not realy that balanced to be honnest, offcourse it will work fine, but if you can spend so much on a cpu, then i would think about to spend a lill extra on the gpu too, and grab a R9-290 instead.

I'm sorry- What are you talking about? 3x titans?

those are graphs from 2x 7970s

Nope, but the 770 could bottleneck the 4930k

3770K, what? The 4930K is a 6 core, socket 2011 part, its one of the strongest CPUs on the market and it supports 40 PCI-E lanes without a PLX chip, there is ZERO chance of a bottleneck because it has all the throughput it needs to handle 3 titans

Also, 115x and 2011 are NOT comparable.
