Will an AMD Athlon II X4 640 work in a motherboard that says it supports x640, but not 640?

Basically said it in the title.

to my knowledge there is no x640 CPU, its probably a typo what motherboard do you have?

A cheap BioStar N68S3+. And yeah, when I looked around I saw there was no x640, but I wasn't sure if it wasn't just some strange CPU.

just make sure its under 95w CPU

It is a 95w exact CPU. I'm asking because my friend got a dual core Phenom II X2 that said 95w with this same board, and it didnt work.

it should work, and so should his dual core, idk whats with that, even if its over it will just display a message every boot saying its over and to hit F1 or something

Alright, thanks. And his Dual Core, no message comes up, and even after disabling Cool'N'Quiet/PowerNow he had to overclock it from the PowerNow clock speeds up to the stock 3.0 Ghz.

Go for the AMD Phenom II X4 945. It should cost you the same. Maybe a little bit more but it´s also a 95 W CPU. So your board should support it.

Also is it an AM3 or AM2+ motherboard?
