Hello,
my name is Jack and after updating to Windows 10 my Wifi adapter stopped working, I assumed it was a driver issue and I found that there is no Windows 10 driver at present for my device (TP-Link Archer T4U V1) so I installed the windows 8.1 driver which worked okay.
Here is where my issue lies, the driver for Windows 8.1 only allows me to achieve download speeds of 20mbps whereas I normally would get 100mbps, is there any way for me to configure the driver to get the 100mbps download speed?
Is 100mbps how much you pay for or how much you got over wifi before the upgrade?
yeah, I was getting 100mbps before the update. That is what I pay for.
Have you gone into the advanced setup for your adapter and made sure that the settings are configured in an optimal way?
Make sure power management is off, VHT mode enabled, Max Radio, etc...
I'm not sure on the optimal settings, would you care to explain? :)
Wow, I've never seen anybody get 100mbps over wifi. I would do what the other guy that replied said and go check you adapter settings.
See my above post for a couple suggestions about settings to look out for
First thing I would check is go to the power management tab and make sure the PC isnt able to throttle the power to the adapter, disable the power management for the adapter. Then I'd switch that first setting from 20MHZ only, to whatever auto setting it has, or 20/40 if it has it.
EDIT: Wanted to add, TP-Link is currently writing the driver for your device, it just hasn't been published yet. They have it listed as working detection for plug n play, but still no published driver. However your device is on the list of devices that they plan to support. If at all possible, you could wire up for the time being and then wait for the proper wireless driver to get released.
Using ethernet isn't really possible, I've changed the settings you suggested and I'll run a speed test now.
Well okay what are we talking about here, mbps, or mb/s ? Because theyre drastically different.
How much do you pay for from your ISP ? Those rates looks pretty typical to a 25/5 connection and wireless ...
I pay for 100mbps and have received that prior to the windows 10 update.
I'd say the root of your problem is the lack of a proper driver, I dont know that you'll be able to take advantage of your full network capabilities until TP-Link releases the right one for you. It's likely that you're connected on some sort of a fallback driver mode.
Thanks :)
