Wich are the HDD spind down friendly?

I saw a video of Wendel mentioning that there are new HDDs that are better prepared for spin down and don’t allow the head to touch the disk like old ones, how is that feature call? how can I tell the HDD has it? is there somewhere a list of disks that use it?.
Can someone that has knowledge about it make a short talk about it? try to google but don’t even know what to look at

Every HDD does this, or else you would not be able to use any HDD at all.
The problem with spin-downs is not the head touching the platter, it’s the wear and tear on the bearing when constantly spinning up and down.

Also when you’re referring to a video, you should also mention the video so people actually have context…

The feature is called “head parking”.

sorry dont know the video anymore, i just let videos running while doing things and as he said that got my attention.

So I could understand from the article, the parking should be done always in modern HDDs, no exception, and it doesn’t causes more wear than turning the PC off and on, right?

I’m asking because since i am the only one using my nas, i assume it will be between non to 3 times a day it will be accessing the disk or even less if i use SSD cache if i understood well

And 3 times a day is still a reasonably expected amount of times a PC is turned on and off, so should not cause an earlier dead of the disk, or?

Modern HDDs park their heads safely when they spin down, so it doesn’t cause extra wear. Spinning up 0-3 times a day is normal and won’t shorten lifespan. Heat and constant use matter more. An SSD cache can help reduce wear and improve speed.
