So for 3 years or so I Have been using Linux exclusively. Started with ubuntu, then to kubuntu, and most recently I am using openSUSE as my DD.
I wanted to play fallout 4, and i just didnt want to mess with anything so installed Win 7 on a separate HD.
i couldnt use my WiFi adapter without drivers. All the linux distros didnt need any to use it.
CRASHES. CRASHES. CRASHES. this thing crashes more than a blind man trying to drive. its terrible.
Flash seams to work when it wants to. getting flash installed is a pain on linux sometimes since its never an out of the box feature, but flash on windows seams to always be terribly buggy, causing browser crashes or lagging video playback.
Its just horrible. nothing is where it should be. i cant find anything when I want to play with settings, or the feature isnt even there sometimes.
I have been coping with this horrible user experience for a month, and it only progressively has gotten worst. if your still using windows, I hate you. your the reason why i cant STAY on linux and play the games i would like. i have to deal with this Terriblly Broken Window.
Broadcom would like a word. most if not all distros don't work with Broadcom's Wi-Fi cards unless you install a proprietary driver MANUALLY so..
you've ever considered that the game is the issue or something else, before coming to the conclusion that it's the OS?
Spoiler alert. Flash has been going away, and is being replaced by HTML5.. sooo yeah it's buggy because it sucks not cause it's a windows issue.
If you bought the game from Steam everything is exactly where it is. in the C:/Program Files (X86)/Steam/SteamApps/Common
all your games are there. choose the folder and find the ini file. and before i get backlash, I'm not speaking in malice. I'm just making a few points.
I've been using Linux (mainly Ubuntu) on and off since 5.10 Breezy Badger and I've got say my experience has been opposite of yours.
I've never had big issues in Windows (except until now in Windows 10), but for 6 or 7 years, every time a new Ubuntu version came out, I eagerly installed it to see how it is. And every time I' either got so frustrated with the problems, performance issues etc. that I jumped back to using Windows as main, or I had the OS broken to the point where it's not worth my time trying to fix it.
I don't mean this as criticism of linux as much as it sounds I do, more just as a counterpoint to your experience. Everyone's mileage varies.
Why? Give me something that Linux does best and I can name another that does it better. I am just tired of all this goddamn shilling. This whole "shove my opinion down everyone's else throat" shit is annoying.
This goes for everyone and whatever shitty operating system they use. They all suck, the end.
Windows doesn't suck, for what it is, it's actually a great OS. Minus the privacy concerns and all that.
For me, I am going to be going to college for computer science and want to learn Linux to add to my skill set. But most people don't need to learn Linux, and the 'familiarity' of Windows is enough for them.
I personally prefer Linux, but let's remember, we're all techies here and a lot of people are not.
