Hey Guys, So I have my own youtube channel, I make Gameplay commentaries and such (Insert derogitory joke here), only just started quite recently with 7 videos etc etc.
I must state, I AM A PC CONVERTER, I have moved over to the 'Superior' Platform.
Now, While I say Superior in quotes, is because, I do think it is better, but I hope to make a video talking about why I think PC gaming is superior to that of a console. While I can think of plenty of reasons, I.e. Better Graphics, Modifications, More developed for PC, cheaper games I.e Steam sales ETC.
I do want to make the video as well rounded as possible, Talking not only about why Pc gaming is good, but I wish to supply some negatives of the PC world, as well as a POSITIVES and NEGATIVES relating to consoles.
I'm really not looking to start one of those 'X is better than Y and Z sucks' Wars in my comments, So I want to know the opinions of what I hope to be a mainly Pc oriented audience, and I'd like you to not just tell me what your positives and negatives, but why you think that, so that I can provide answers of users, see the most common and some 'rare' answers to throw into the video.
Thanks for any replies that you guys fancy dropping my way as its going to help make the video more well rounded and less preaching how pc is superior, though that is kinda of the point.
I dont know why people only think you can play on one, play all the platforms and get the best experiance possible.
Console is for the more casual gamer.
Games come out earlier.
Can't really buy a bad product, I mean you can but not really like PC.
No viruses.
The interface is a little easier.
You get to be monitored all the time on kinect so all your bros at microsoft can see you straight chillin G on your couch. (Pending)
Better for sports/3rd person games. I KNOW YOU CAN BUY A CONTROLLER, BUT STILL I'M HAVING A ROUGH TIME THINKING HERE.
I know alot of sports games aren't on the computer.
You can physically have games instead of downloading them all if that's your cup of tea, I mean you can buy discs for PC games it's just not as practical. I actually have most of my console games bought through games on demand.
If you don't use a credit card Microsoft point cards are easier to find than steam cards.
Don't have to sit at a desk (I know you don't ACTUALLY have to for PC, but really who doesn't.)
More friends to talk to on the console most likely.
That's all I got. Some of it's not really big or matters at all, but I'm just giving all I got.
Better GRAPHICS!!! just look at how shitty BF3 looks on the Xbox and the mouse gives better control over the analog stick
The strongest argument for console gaming I can think of is:
Split screen multiplayer.
Not exactly sure how that works on PC, but it's the most redeeming quality of a console. A lot of childhood memories involved having friends over playing N64 or whatever. It probably wouldn't have been the same had it been on a computer.
quote "More friends to talk to on the console most likely." not true imo(or for me), its one of the points i hate with consolse. no skype, vent, mumble and msn?! :D
ppl cant talk with ppl on xbox if sitting on a ps3?
See this ^ more like questions hehe i have a xbox but ivent played online so i dont really know.
BUT sports games like hockey, soccer on a bamf tv rocks lol
"13 years or older to join steam"
go to gamestop lucky to get 2 games for 70 bucks, go to steam on sale with 70 bucks get 100 games
"13 years or older to join steam"
I don't have to bring my computer to my friends or relatives house to play a game, just log into steam, and not risk the chance of oh I forgot the the xbox, power cable, hdmi cable controller, headset
"13 years or older to join steam"
better graphics, the option to mod my games
wider variety of games to be played, lets be honest, only first party games are worth playing on consoles like zelda or metroid, any of the other games are not worth playing or are on steam and are cheaper and better graphic
Indie humble bundle, steam chat, if I need to talk to some of my friends I can talk to anyone of them via text chat or voice chat wether they are playing a game or other things on their computer, why would you be at your xbox and have it on if you aren't playing a game
in game web-browser, a simple key macro and I can google why I can't seem to beat the org of garglemoth
"hipster-casual-college-bros" don't use steam
you want to be physical with your games, go out and play some B-ball not that stagnant kennect crap
I can play any game made in the past on my pc, the plopping mario kart in you 360
it may very well be true I can upgrade my computer every few years just like you have to buy a new console every few years but the difference is, I don't HAVE to upgrade, just play it at lower settings think of it this way, you have a SNES but you don't have to get a N64 to play N64 Games you can use your SNES to play N64 games at the SNES level until you can afford a N64
consoles have their place and so do PCs
Consoles are better for teenagers with almost no cash lol
accessories cost more, games cost morez, mutiplayer cost lotsa moneys on top of ur interwebz
But parents are a lot more willing to buy a $200 bundle with games than a decent computer that will cost more than that
No kidding. Even with me being the 2nd-latest generation, playing Halo 3 and messing around in forge was fun.
The most important thing is freedom. The PC is an open platform, and because of this freedom it grants the user, it is infinitely superior to any closed platform.
This is ture as of 4 - 6 years ago, I don't think I can think of one tripple A title that has come out this year without DRM
Witcher 2 was DRM free if I remember correctly. And not to mention, a game being open doesn't have to mean DRM free. Think of all the awesome mods you can do on the PC. Skyrim, Dark Souls, Civ 5, the list goes on and on.
better graphics, upgradability, console hardware is usually out of date by the time it is released. jusa few things i can think of right now, ill add more later if i think of more
PCs aren't infested with 8 year olds playing 18 rated games
The bottom line with consoles is that they are cheap and easy for 12 yr olds to figure out. Console is the weapon of choice for your lower middle class hillbilly factory worker / middle schooler / emo chick who thinks shes a "gamer". Its popularity has had an adverse effect on the quality of games within the industry because publishers have been pushing developers to gear their games towards the low quality hardware that are in consoles, even the controls for a lot of games are being designed for console first and PC's laters, which should be the other way around. A good example would be the menu system in skyrim and battlefield 3. The overall anatomy for games has changed also, EA has forced Dice, the developer of Battlefield 3 to add in a shitty single player campaign to their franchise starting with Bad Company 2, so that the game would appeal to the CoD fanboy "console kiddy" crowd. Overall graphical quality has suffered as well, perfect example being Crysis 2, which didnt get DX11 until its PC community bitched at Crytek for about 6 months, both consoles run DX9 by the way. The CoD engine has actually gotten worse over the years, and modern warfare 3 performed so poor graphicallly that instead of running at 1080p the game ran at an upscaled 1600 by 900 resolution, and dragged the PC version down with it, as this upscaling preference was the default graphical preferance for anyone who bought the PC version (not many did), and unless you found the abscure little box in the advanced settings folder that said "Use native resolution?" then the game looked like a grainy monstrosity much like its console counterpart. Consoles have made gaming affordable and highly accessible, but the console developers seek to undo the one good thing they have done for society. One of the great aspects of consoles is that there are no CD keys and in most cases nothing to install, so you can borrow games from friends, use a rental service, are trade in old games for new ones. But the console developers will be stripping us of this with the next console generation, forcing us to buy every single game we want to play either off the marketplace of with a CD key, no more trading or borrowing games for YOU! That, plus the fact that PC's have much greater performance and graphical potential, and the fact that PC gamers can pirate most of the games they dont care much for but still want to play through at least once will have many people crawling back to the PC platform and staying there for good. Thus prooving once again that the assholes who work in the big triple-A gaming indusrty are constantly shooting themselves in the foot in an attempt to squeeze every cent they possibly can out of us. When I asked Rex Conn the co-developer of 4DOS, and a hardware industry expert about his thoughts on consoles several years ago he only had one thing to say as he shook his head, "PC gamers have been laughing at consoles for years", and that pretty much sums up might thoughts on consoles. Best of luck with your video make sure you do your research first.
Cheers.
With all the newer GPU's out now (660, 670, 680, 7870, 7970 etc etc) I'd say PC gaming is superior at this moment in time. I recently just went back to PC Gaming. As a matter of fact... I stopped gaming all together bc of the "Console Craze" the last few of years. Plus i was working way too much. But don't we all!? IMO, PC gaming is above and beyond consoles in the graphics department right now and will be for a while. Consoles are good for eh you know... the drunk sausage parties that have multiple players sitting around taking turns on the "STICKS" while playing Madden and COD bc they think sports and FPS are the only games out there. Some of the best games I have ever played were RPG's MMO's RTS and so on. Never really got into the sports games too much or the movment oriendtated crap (Wii/Kinect) bc when i play a VIDEO GAME (fiction-land) I dont have to move my ass and can actually enjoy the game and relax. If i wanted to flail about and break all the nice stuff in my living room, I'd go excercise or something. Oh, plus LAN parties are better than Brosef parties anyways, bc you can show off your rig and see others crazy creations in a calm fun enviroment without all the brave 12yr olds trying to talk crap on the net through their forcefield of a headset. And if I want to pick my nose... i dont have to worry about Microsoft trying to watch me do so and judge me (shame on them).
The Witcher 2 is "DRM free" ... but....
PC Gaming for me is superior because of the community.
I started playing CounterStrike Beta 4.0. I loved that game, and I mowed so many damn lawns, and mopped more floors than I think a 12 year old should in order to save precious dollars and play at the local net cafe.
After playing for some time I noticed a change, I'm not sure exactly when. I realized that people were spending most of the map screaming at each other, hurling every insult under the sun. I'm no saint, even at 12 I swore like a sailor, but I had no intention to yell at people over the internet. I was there to have fun. I noticed this attitude spreading across all my favorite HL mods. Firearms, DoD, Ricochet, and even Team Fortress.
I've sort of digressed here into nostalgia, I'll try to wrap it up.
I stopped playing online FPS when it got to be too much, even Tribes was not as bad as the Halflife mods became.
A little while later (long while), I bought the Orange Box. It was great, TF2 had none of that crap. I've been playing more and more online shooters ever since. I thought everyone just grew up, but I bought an xbox360 when they were on sale ($199 and I got a $100 gift card!) and was quickly inundated with a fresh steaming stream of racist, sexist, abuse. Crazy!
