I have an amd a8 5600k APU, and in CPU-Z it shows my voltage is CONSTANTLY jumping. It goes from 1.4V to 1.0V to 1.2V and just keeps jumping. Is this normal? Also, my power supply cable that powers up my cpu was too short to reach on my motherboard, so what I did was cut the 4 little wires, added my own copper wires, used insulators to attach them, and electrical tape around that to keep it that way. Could this be doing anything? I wouldn't think so because it's just wire really... I've done a lot of wiring myself over the years. I read somewhere that this could be just some sort of "Power-saver" or something.

You have to use specific wire for a PSU not just any old copper wire, (very few people do this) and they only do it on modular PSU cables (not the hard wired ones usually)
So to answer the question why does the voltage jump?, its probably the rewire job you did (i wouldnt feel confident in saying its normal to act this way due to the rewire)
Either way cutting a hard wired cable is a bad idea
yeah, you should notice that the lower voltages correspond to lower clock frequencies, and the higher voltages to higher frequencies. Run a stress test like prime 95 and then observe the votages, they should remain within 0.1V of eachother. if they still jump all over the place, then you need a new powersupply, with a longer cpu cable this time ;)
My clock frequencies stay @ 3.793 Mhz the whole time, just the Voltage that jumps. Also, i went into the BIOS and noticed the voltage was steady, maybe moving .01-.05 every now and then. Maybe it's just CPU-Z that does this
Ok, I ran prime95 for 5 minutes and the voltage stayed @ 1.4. Which is perfect. Thanks isteelsolz. I think it's just this power saving thing that AMD did. I've done this type of wiring before in a different build, except for the 24 pin connector. It worked LOL. Worst comes to worst, I'll just buy another computer.. lol
