Why is most Linux media British?

Everything I find for linux, books, magazines, podcasts, some videos. they are all a bunch of British people? Don't get me wrong the information they give is great, the publications are great as well. I just wish there was more local source of info so I don't have to pay $20+ for a magazine that if produced in the U.S. would have cost me at most half of of what I paid. Same with the books. Just an observation. I love that Wendel and Logan are starting to teach and talk about Linux at the same time I am getting into it. Ok this was a random post, sorry for taking up your time.

Maybe @wendell and @logan could start selling said books. That'd be nice, then we could help them out by buying the books off their site.

I don't know about the books and magazines but many British people create popular youtube and podcast content because their accent is pleasing to the ear.

Probably cause MURICA' is dominated by Microsoft. Here in America, Linux just isn't popular as a Desktop OS and not cause it's terrible. but because arguably, you need certain hardware, and not everything works out the box. it's an excellent learning experience, but the amount of time you could of spent trying to make your current hardware work on Linux, that time could of been spent ACTUALLY working.

Books take an incredible amount of time to write, especially for a topic as specific as Linux. I honestly can't imagine either of them fitting in writing time for a book with the tek and whatever other stuff they have to do.

I didn't mean sell their own books. I meant get a collection of the best.

Its the British Culture.

We (I'm Manx close to being British!!!) are a nation of tinkers and fiddlers. Anything and everything has a magazine or newpaper dedicated to it in the UK.

Literally anything.... From Trains to Paving-stones. Linux fits really nicely into to this. It very shed friendly so British people are likely to be obsessed with it.

Basically, you can only talk about the weather for so long. Anything else is taboo.

See Have I got News for You, they choose a different publication each week.

These are all real publications. Miniature Donkey Talk is real....

I dont think he meant they would write the books, just sell them cheaper than other places and still make a proffit and hence continue their awesome work on tek syndicate.

If thats the case then yes, would be an awesome idea. Anyway, im sure they could get help from the community to seek out the best books.
