I can understand people who use MACs for editing and stuff like that, but they just are not what PC's are for gaming.

You will notice the difference between a virus dedicated against apache servers, and viruses against the normal person.
Apache-attacks are generally done in person, where "normal" virusses are done by mass spreading (can be anything from spreading it through torrents or JDB (Or SJDB for the more advanced)).
It is hard to dedicated write a pierce of software to penetrate a apache service from the outside
UAC is exactly what you mentioned in your 4th paragraph (or sort of), however it is possible to go around this by smart tricks.
Windows security flaws are far worse than just that simple solution. Windows would need to do a major wewrite of all their system software to fully become a "secure" operating system.
As a person using windows, mac and unix they are as safe as you make them.

I have never had any issues other than driver-problems with windows. Never had a virus (other than a ad-virus for like 10 minutes before I removed it).
The thing that bothers me with Mac users is the huge snobbery thinking that their products is always superior. Tue new Sapphire Glass thing is a huge middle finger to the mobile industry since apple apparently bought the company. The old Mac Pro tower layout was a horrible design as well. I do not like how they used riser cards for the CPU and ram. The whole proprietary bull**** is dumb too as mentioned above. I will continue to use either Windows or Linux for productivity and gaming. A couple of thing I see that Linux needs work on is the friendliness and driver support. Try installing nvidia drivers on a Linux distro that's isn't Ubuntu. Windows side of things, they need to go back to the roots of what made Windows XP so great. Windows 8 IMO was a huge let down. I do not like the Metro UI and I do not care what update or 3rd party fix, its not going to make me switch over to windows 8. I cannot wait to see what windows 9 is gonna be like though.
