Why does Win 8 Upgrader say my Asus P8Z77V PRO isn't compatible with secure boot?

Hey guys,

I just sold my PS3 and Macbook Pro Retina to build myself a PC. I finished it on Monday and have been playing with it since, trying to get it just right. My problem is that I'm looking to upgrade to windows 8 with windows 8 upgrade assistant and it says that "Secure Boot isn't compatible with your PC" I have a Asus p8z77v pro with BIOS updated to 1805.

I'm pretty sure this mobo should be compatible, am i mistaken?

If it is, then what can the problem be?

probably disabled or not setup correctly in your bios... i found your info on a google search.

bios boot tab:

  • CSM (Compatibility Support Module): Launch CSM from Auto to Disabled
  • Secure Boot: OS Type from Other to Windows 8 UEFI
  • Secure Boot: Made sure Secure Boot Mode was set to Standard.

dunno why on earth you would use it on a machine you built, windows 8 will install without it. ];p

What do you mean? I thought it was an important feature to ward off malicious attacks. Not critical, but helpful? no?

Enable "No eXecute bit" in your BIOS. It refuses to install without it.
