I didn't even know there was a console section. However I do own a gamecube and an N64 and if I ever wanted to discuss either one I would prob throw it in here.
There are legit questions from.time to time so it is here for them.

Because people play console games? I'm primarily a PC gamer, but that doesn't prevent me from enjoying my consoles. I'll even be picking up an xbone in the near future. It's so much more social than PC gaming for me. I don't pick my friends based on what system they game on, so the majority of my friends are just regular guys (not that pc gamers aren't regular guys). If you poll the general population in the 20-30 age group, most of us are console gamers. It's much easier to invite some guys over and have everyone just grab a controller to play on the big screen. The controls are familiar to them and everyone has a good time. I tried to get some friends into PC gaming a couple of times, but they got really aggravated when we played Halo CE over LAN. The controls were foreign to them and couldn't compete unless I literally let them kill me the entire time. The only game I could actually get everyone to play was Red Alert 2 (and that stopped working when I upgraded to windows 8).
For me, PC gaming is great when I want to immerse myself, and console gaming is great if I'm not taking the game too seriously or want to play an exclusive. It's also great for entertaining. If more PC games included split screen, maybe I'd consider ditching consoles, but until them I will always have one.

What is your problem with consoles? On this website everyone is hating on consoles.
Consoles are not bad at all. The PC is better, no argument there but some things are better on the consoles, here some examples of points a PC will never beat and are heavy arguments for some peoples:
1. If you go out buying a PC game and you don't have the ultimate high-end PC you have to look, if the game even work on your system. If you don't know, what your hardware specs are you can buy games, witch don't work on your PC. Consoles are all the same, so if you have a xbox 360 and you buy a 360 game, it will work on your xbox, same for PS and Nintendo.
2. If you like playing games with your friends or your brothers/sister on the same device, consoles are the better option, as you can play many games split-screen.
3. The os of all the the consoles are easy to handle, with is better for small children.
4. Consoles are cheaper, I know the statistics say something else, but I got my xbox 360 second hand for 180$ with 2 controllers and Halo 4. I spent about an other 50$ on games on sale , so <250 $ for a gaming system witch is a lot of fun with my friends. This only counts, if you don't need the newest gear to be happy
5. Consoles are more or less future proof. The xbox 360 lasted now 9 years, the PS3 about 8, without a upgrade.
I have my xbox for 6 months now. Most of my time I game on my PC but every now and then when friends come over, we play on the xbox. All of my friends have a PC at home but playing online is not the same.
There is a console section because its an often discussed topic in the gaming world. There many people who use and enjoy their consoles to play with their non PC savvy friends. Teksyndicate as a whole is all about retro gaming and that exploded on the old consoles. No reason to exclude some people because the current generation of consoles are not as ground breaking as they used to be.
It's for the linux guys who play Roguelikes (Omega, Zangband) on the bash console.

Don't hate the console guys. Consoles are there, they exist, people use them. PCs are more capable, versatile and powerful; But they are harder to master.
If you keep insisting in hostility towards console players, they'll just think pc gamers are just a bunch of nerds raging over whoose epeen is larger because of X or Y graphics card or PSU. I loved seeing this section. Besides, it's not more out of place as the beer forum. Just be polite and maybe if some console player feels welcomed here, he might stay and peek into the other pc subforums and start learning from there.

And I modded my 1st gen Xbox to be a PC which at that time was a fairly decent and cheap PC.
Consoles only got to be ridiculous when they cost more than the sum of the parts it would take to build a better PC
