Why are open source software considered to be more secure?

Interesting replies. If you were to choose between Android or iOS solely in terms of security would iOS edge out? simple because the whole ecosystem is locked down?

Choose whatever you want you wont have security anyway.

I believe so yes but at the end of the day nothing is 100% hack proof… :stuck_out_tongue:

AOSP, with fdroid packages is completely open source and is pretty secure.

What I’ve learned over the last 5 years or so is that this is just the wrong question to ask. Since nothing is perfectly secure, everything is going to require some amount of work and vigilance to become and remain as secure as is needed.

Find something that tickles your fancy, and go with it.

If it was that easy, someone would’ve done it already and put together a team to code out all the spying.

Well, the source code for Windows 2000 was leaked.

I would just say, use whatever you like the most.
Because both have their pro´s and con´s really.
Android is probablly more widelly used then IOS.
Because Apple still has its own eco system pretty much.
