So i was watching some reviews on some Corsair RAM sticks, and i saw some comments saying how Corsair's ram didn't give you the speed you paid for, For example a guy claimed that a 1600 Mhz Ram stick would just be 1500 Mhz.
So i was just wondering if this is true. And if it is, who makes RAM that gives me what i pay for? I looked at some patriot viper 3 RAM, is that good RAM?
Please reply if you have any experience with this. c:
Patriot is a good brand, yes. It really depends on if your build is new or not. For newer builds, I know Logan highly recommends Mushkin or G.Skill. Not so sure about Corsair, I've never personally used them. Though it sounds like the issue with the sticks only running at 1500MHz is an issue with the specific motherboard they're plugged into, not the RAM sticks themselves.
I've been using G.Skill for years and (imo) it's the best I've come across in terms of price for performance. Haven't had a chance to try out the new Mushkin RAM though
I'm inclined to agree with this abstrakt, i just swtiched over to g.skill and the over all quality and aesthetic of the sticks (sniper 1866) in question were wonderfull. The 6gb of dominator 1600 i replaced seemed to pale in comparision at least in terms of build quality.
I know!! I had a pair of Crucial that I just didn't like at all, threw in some G.Skill Ripjaws (same speed) and performance in my video editing software almost doubled. It was that moment that I realized I'd be using G.Skill for all my future builds lol.
Not to mention I've never gotten faulty RAM from them. I've had issues with that from other brands (OCZ twice, Crucial twice, and even Patriot once).
