Hello internet, I decided it's time for upgrades to my notebook (HP Envy DV6-7320el) since I want to keep it still for some years. I wanted to get a new wireless card that supports the 5GHz band. Looking around and digging a bit I found out that some notebook manufacturer like HP use whitelists to prevent the users from installing different hardware than the one that was shipped with, like the wireless card. I couldn't find anywere if my specific series of notebook is locked down or not so I hope someone of you can help me find anything about it. I've also read that is possible to bypass all the whitelists with modified BIOSs but I don't want to tinker with that because I prefer a working notebook with a slow wireless card than a dead one. Thanks.
