White Noise Issue with all Audio Devices after Skype call

I enter a Skype call with my friend and his creepy friends. After the call ended, my headset still was acting as if I was still in the Skype call.

Info on my headset: Perixx AX-2000B 3.5mm Headset. The audio and mic are two seperate audio jacks When I enter a Skype call the headset acts like a sort of sound booth: I can hear myself and when I rub or tap the mic, for example, I can hear a rubbing sound. That's normal. When I'm NOT on Skype, whenever I rub or tap the mic or talk, I can't hear myself, just the game, and everything's fine.

Now, whenever I talk, I can hear myself, I can hear the reverb off of typing on my keyboard, which was also normal in a Skype call. At first, I thought it was the headset, but when I unplugged it. I noticed that my speakers where also emitting white noise. Basically, ALL of my audio devices are acting like I'm in a Skype call when I'm clearly not.

I have no idea what's going on. I've restarted the computer 3 times, uninstalled and reinstalled Skype, shut the computer off, restored Windows to a previous point. Nothing works. Everything's fine up until the Windows log in, then the white noise comes back and the speakers include my mic in the sound, like a Skype call. Whenever I unplug the mic jack, the white noise stops temporarily but then it comes back, just without mic input. Obviously everything's fine when it's all muted,

PLEASE. FREAKING. HELP.

EDIT: I fixed it. Opened up the Realtek HD Audio Manager widget and noticed a dB slider set to 30. I had no idea what is was but I was desperate. I slid it back to 20 and I noticed the white noise was quieter. I slid it back up to 30, it was louder, then back to 10, it was quieter. Then to 0. White noise gone, it's like it was before. Skype still has the noise, but again that's normal, at least for me.

What's interesting is that whenever I open up the widget again, the slider is gone......................................

Sounds like you have an issue with your Windows Audio Device Settings.

This can be very different for different audio chipsets.

First I would download and install the latest drivers and software for your audio chip from your motherboard manufacturer's website. Then I would go to the device settings for your mic and/or your driver interface "Realtek Audio Manager" etc. and troubleshoot from there.

The checkbox for "Listen to this Device" under the "Listen" tab has caused similar problems on other systems in my experience. But every sound chip is different.
