I am going to be using this Asus Z97 PRO GAMER ATX LGA1150 Motherboard in my build. It says its Windows 10 Ready but, I don't know which windows to get for it. I'm not sure to get pro or home or etc.
Windows 10 Pro. You can set telemetry to basic and have better control over when updates are installed compared to the Home version. There are a bunch more enterprise features like encryption, remote desktop, hyper-v and of course domain join.
Pro has a bunch of fancy features if you are a power user, but if it's just a gaming machine it doesn't matter much.
In terms of support, 10 is cool if you're interested in DX12. Otherwise I don't really see the point. Of course if you're buying a license, 10 is cheaper.
The general consensus is that if you're going Windows 10, Pro would be the version to get. If you enjoy the old GUI features of Windows 7, I would recommend going with StartIsBack, the program is about 3 bucks US and feels much more polished than Classic Shell, it also gives you more control options. From there I would look at logan's video for removing some of the telemetry "features" of windows 10 if that bugs you. Finally, there are ways to remove the excessive "phone" apps from windows 10, cautioning the calculator and clock apps. I personally removed everything but those with powershell.
