Which TV should I choose?

Hello,

well I am pretty insecured about which TV I should buy. I'd like to have 4k 3d-passiv and not too expenisve, if this is possible. There are a few ones that I had a look at:
LG55UB830V and
LG55UF8609

So the testings were very confident about the quality, not like some comments of customers which announce several problems either with sound or 3d quality etc. A friend of mine recommended to ask in this forum, to hear the opinion of some very experienced guys.

I know that 3D is not quit Up-to-Date, but i would like to have it anyway for some movies or 3D-splitscreen.

Also I like the Vizio P-Series a lot for it's benefits, but they have no 3D. But if you think, that those are so much ahead of those LG 3D TVs in 4k-quality, I would also give up on the 3D.

So I'd really like to hear what you think which one I should take or if you got any better recommendations.

My honest opinion is 3d is not worth the added money as there is little to no new content that is going to be made for 3d capable TV's so that only leaves the Split Screen option as a relevant concern and I may be wrong but I thought you had to have an active system to make that work.

In terms of 4k in general I am on a wait and see approach as a USA resident. There is little talk of changing over to 4k broadcasts for cable or over the air transmission and the streaming options for 4k are still very limited. With that said there is already some early talk of 6 and 8k TV's. Furthermore the size and viewing distance that makes 4k a good option is fairly close to to the screen which makes 4k and up good for computer monitors but not so great for how most americans at least view their TV.

well i defenitly played garden warfare (1 i think) in 3d split screen on my friends passive lg.
and with black ops 3 there is a thing that didn't showed up it the last triple A titels. Split screen. Well i hope this continous, so that the developers produce more games with wich you can have your friends over to your place and play together and not aside or seperated on their own computers. Along with movies this is the only thing i would need a TV screen for.

So I really am not going to recommend a specific Make or Model but instead give you some things to think about.

How large of a screen do you want and how close are you going to sit in front of it, for instance at the 45-55 inch range you need to be sitting between 5-6 feet to definitely see a difference between UHD and FHD at 6-7 you may notice some differences but it's not going to be as clear a benefit.

except for issues of 3d playback do not pay any attention to what frequency your TV refreshes at. the signal decoder in your TV is going to look for some specific frequencies and lock in on only those refresh rates, which in the USA are normally 29.97/30, 24/23.98, 59.94/60fps. 3D signals do refresh at a higher rate but they are still locked refresh rates that are limited by the transmission technology when it was standardized. Movies will be delivered at either 24/23.98 or 29.97/30fps.

okay thanks.
but I really would like to have an advice which tv i should choose.

thank you

from this list i would chose the lg 55uh8500. sadly it isn't sold in german Amazon or ebay as far as i know.

edit:
i just found a quit cheap lg 55UF850V but there is no review on rtings.com. any comments?

While @Cort_Byron beat me to it there are lots of sites out there than have Rated themselves or compiled the reviews from other sites. Unless your day job is selling TV's the market changes to often for most people to keep up its not like the PC market where someone releases an item and it stays in production for a few years. Manufacturers in the TV space change products out yearly and they tend to stagger product releases so that every few months there is something new from one manufacturer or another.

and well there it is again: a quit good review and fatal comments below... that is the thing, that confuses me all the time

So that one negative comment is not fatal in my book it is one guy having issues with the internet connectivity and you do not know the situation in his house, the other two commenters where happy with it and honestly you should get a roku or other smart TV add on as they are still much better than built in to TV smart apps that are not Roku.

here is the USA review on the same model we seem to like model numbers in the thousands rather than hundreds :)

well quit but not exacly... the last digit stands for the country... i think in which one it is sold. Obviously 0 for USA, 9 for germany and for example V for Austria. But all in all this is also very confusing.

I have a Vizio P75 inch. The TV packs quite the punch. Very happy with the TV! The color is True 10 bit panel with processing throughout the chain with Wide color gamut. The Local dimming is the best I have seen to date on a FALD. The blacks are deeeeeeep. The TV supports HDR video though Dolby Vision and will be updated to HDR10 in a few months. Vizio has been really on top of working out the issues. The next firmware will fix some glitches the tv has.

I would say its the best TV to buy right now for the price. I watch a lot of movies in the dark and this TV performs very well. The processing is more natural than you get with the Sonys or Samsungs. Sony and Samsung look great but they tend to push colors too hard giving movies a stylized look to it. It looks great but it doesnt look like it does in the theater. The Vizio looks natural, colors like you would see in a theater.

The TV does have downsides like all TVs today. There is no perfect TV and everyone of them will have something that isnt perfect. I will say that for me this TV has been as close to perfect as I could expect from a LCD.

Also just a note the 2016 Vizio P series is not considered a TV since it lacks a TV tuner (Not many people use tuners theses days, including me) but technically they are monitors. The smart TV interface is not on the TV itself its located on the Tablet that comes with the TV and you cast your content to the TV. The TV has a built in supercharged Chromecast

thanks for that answer. thats another vote for the p series. any other opinions?
