I have the LSI 9265-8i and it works fine with my 4TB SAS drives but the 10TB 4Kn Advanced Format drives are shown as “unconfigured good (Not Supported)”. Also tried the LSI 9267-8i controller and the 9260-8i.
The compatibility guide i’ve seen (https://bitdeals.tech/blogs/news/4kn-lsi-compatibility-list) indicates the 9265-8i controller is compatible with 4kn drives. Doesn’t work for me. Maybe i need to update the firmware, but the Dell website only gives me an .exe file while the MegaRaid Storage application requires some firmware file with a different extension. I’m giving up on this.
Please recommend a SAS card you know works with 10TB 4kn drives and which has two Mini SAS 36 Pin SFF-8087 cable ports.
Some post on reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/lt52g1/4kn_sas_hardware_raid_controller/) says that the LSI MegaRAID 9271-8i and 9286-8e were the start of support for 4kn, so that’s my best idea so far – the 9271-8i – but please post if you know better
