I am looking to buy a new power supply, my current one is a Corsair VS 650 and it is powering my Sapphire Nitro R9 390. the problem is that my frames get too hgh my gpu shuts down. the rest of the system is fine though (fans are running, except gpu's) but the monitor looses connection obviously and the sound shuts off too.
I was thinking that when the nitro 390's power consumption reaches higher than my psu's then the gpu shuts down.
Which of these power supplies would you recommend (prices are in Australian Dollars), I would prefer psus with 750 and higher wattage, semi to full modular, gold certified.
If you have other suggestions, please feel free to browse the same website for other PSUs
The EVGA uses slightly higher componentry compated to the fractal, but you shouldn't run into issues. CPL just looks like they are trying to push out old stock.
I have had good success with the Cooler Master V750. However the cheapest I can find it for sale in Aussie is Mighty Ape at $189, everywhere else is more around the $200 mark. My vote would go towards the EVGA SuperNova G2 since the pricing in Australia appears to be horrendous, even worse than NZ pricing.
Funny this thread should come up, I'm in a similar situation haha
I'm running the VS550 from Corsair and plan to upgrade to a 390 early next year, definitely need a new PSU.
On a side note out of curiosity, how bad is it when you idle at less than 20%? If I were to jump up to a 750w PSU on my current rig it would most definitely be under 20% at idle/light load.
