I’m about to get my next phone for the holiday season. I was going to wait for the Xiaomi Mi5 but since that one still isn’t hear I decided to get somethimg now. I wanted to get something to at least match or beat My OnePlus One which drowned in a terrible accident a few months ago (Rest in Peace). My favorites were the LG G4, the Galaxy S6, the OnePlus 2, the Moto X Pure, and the Huawei Mate S. I’ve narrowed it down to the Moto X and the Huawei Mate S. However both of them are really appealing. Can anyone help me decide?
Mother fucker why didn't I think of that?
Puts on hipster glasses
" Well some people just forget it's the greatest phone to ever exist"
Did you already use it before it was cool?
Not only did I use it before it was cool , I still use it because
(insert bs reason someone doesn't use a smart phone anymore here)
Out of the Moto X Pure and the Huawei Mate S I like the Moto X a little bit more. For one because the specs are better in most areas and it has vanilla android. However with that said I would highly recommend the Nexus 6P, as something to consider.
I would get the Zenfone 2 laser if I didn't have Sprint. But that is just me.
The Nexus 6p is a great device but sadly the prices in europe for the new nexus devices are complete shit. It starts at 650€ and because 32GB of storage simply aren't enough for me I would need to spend 700€ on the 64GB variant. For comparison the us prices are $500, $550, and $650. Im simply not spending that much
Well the zenfone 2 laser is in a whole different price class. I did consider the Zenfone 2 though but decided no to go for with because of the software and horrible button placement

After messing about with many different phones running different OS's I have come to the conclusion that...
I will not have a phone that does not get security updates right away. I wouldn't run a PC that had an OS that is not supported I see no reason to have a phone doesn't either.
So the short list.
- iPhone, but I don't Apple
- Windows phone, better than 99% of people think, but I don't Microsoft.
- Google Nexus, what I'm running now.
- Ubuntu touch, doesn't entirely work, but is getting better.
- Jolla-Sailfish, they are in receivership and in the process of going bust.
- FirefoxOS having owned one I'm still not sure if it's a dumb smart phone or a smart dumb phone.
- Blackberry, shit I almost forgot Blackberry... They are still around?
About the Windows phone, after a lot of testing it has one of the best GUI of any mobile device. If you run Windows on your PC you should have no qualms about running it on your phone. I don't run Windows on my PC so I personally wouldn't use it however I have no problems recommending them to a Windows PC user. So for me it's Google Nexus or bust. However if Canonical do get Ubuntu Touch into a 24/7 100% working state I would be more than willing to give it a go.
I've been thinking about the newly released note 3 but the fact that you can only get it with 32gb and no sd card slot kills it for me. Also because it's a Chinese midranger I would have to wait for marshmallow for quite a long time
I've been thinking of going with a Lumia 950/950 XL but then I would be facing the same app problem that I'm already facing with my temporary BlackBerry Z10 that I've been using since my OnePlus One died. I still had one lying around and it seriously hasn't aged very well
The Windows app market isn't as bad as many think. My time was with Windows Phone 8.1, I'm not sure how things are going to b e affected by things moving to the windows store. Just about the only "missing" app that affected me was the lack of Pebble support. I have become very attached to my Pebble Steel. If I were to return to Windows I would have to swap it out for a MS band.
Have a look at this site to see if there is enough variety for you.
LG G4 is too old and there software is ass,
GS6 has the battery of an iphone and there software is ass,
OP2 has some hardware bugs and OnePlus's Bullshit (As a OPO owner I know this from first hand experience),
Moto X Pure has OK Battery Life,
and the Huawei Mate S has ass software updates and possibly some carrier issues
I only recommend four android phones:
Nexus 6P / 5X
Moto G 2015
Sony Xperia Z5
If you can get a nexus then the Z5 would be your best option.
+1 for the Xperia Z5.
Meizu Pro 5 looks really nice.
I don't have any experience with meizu but I've heard good things about them. Do you have any experience with meizu?
