My friend wants a pc, This is what he sent me: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Nz7v
I told him to get this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/NzBv
What do you guys think? I let him pick the case and accessories, he's going to be using this for gaming and movies, he told me he tends to multitask a ton.
Note: I picked the titan due to futureproofing, I realise it is only slightly better than the 670's for a decent amount more.
So yeah, what are you guys opinions? which should he pick, and are the any imporvements that can be made to the build that is better?
I just NOPED so hard, both have overspending in major areas

heres a GTX Titan Water cooled i7 Build, and if you want to run 2 cards (which that PSU can handle) get 2 7970' and crossfire them for even more performance, which will also be about 200$ less.
Theres also a lot of other things i switched up which perform better or are more reliable.
@Beyond he picked his own case,a slo he wants nvidia, I already tried convincing him to get 7970's, but the titan is better for futureproofing. Also, he doesnt know how to set up a watercooling loop, so it would be better to stick with the fans on the build.
Also, why an i7? LOgan proved that the 8350 was better value for money
On another note, I just picked the first motherboard I could find that I trusted, since ive never researched am3+ motherboards, which is why I asked for any imporvements :P
And why change the hard drives? he wants 5 seperate one's so I told him to partition.
Well ill config the build differently then if he doesent want to buy a Loop, the case is overpriced for what it is though, and itsnt nearly functional as it should be, id seriously try to convince him to get something else, if he likes it for the looks id reccommend you tell him to check out a White Cooler Master Storm Scout 2 or Storm Stryker.
and as for the 8350 being better value for money, it is in the sense that its not the difference between playability, mainly when comparing it to a 3570K, but the 3770K is a Whole other story and definitley beats it by a large margin in 90% of tasks most people use.
and if he Wants Nvidia for whatever reason just tell him to use the Titan like you said, not so sure on the Futureproofing though as its more of an Engineering exercise, and adding another 1000$ compoenet a few years down the line doesent make much sense... if you can even still buy them then.
I doubt he'd be able to fill up all that Space unless for some reason he has a lot of uncompressed Video movies and the like.
If he ever needs more space just buy another 2TB or 3TB HDD, buying multiple 1+ TB HDD's not meant for a home server or a specific use is just a waste of money.
mmhhhmmm thats why I told him to get the big one's and partition them.
He says he has a lot of data he'd be saving, personally I dont think he'd be able to fill that much data, but eh, its his choice what he spends the money on I guess. He says he'a rather not do the watercooling setup as its effort. But the main thing is the whole intel vs amd aspect. Whereas he wants intel, I recommend amd.
For High end rigs Intel is definitley what you want, AMD processor's are the best friends of people on a tight budget and thats why they are reccommended/used so much.
against the 3770k though their essentially even, and somewhat behind or ahead on the 3820 depending on what you do.
i will either go with the titan or i will sli two cards. not 100 percent sure on which cards. i want nvidia though. it is just the brand i like the most. im not a fanboy but i just prefer them over amd. i know the case is over priced. by alot. i just love the look of it. and it gets fantastic thermals that actually beat most cases. it is just psycho over priced. i will probably replace it with a cheaper case before i make my final purchase on the parts.
i want the 5 spearate 1 tb hdd because each one is going to have a purpose. 1 for the main windows. 1 for music and games. 2 of them for video because i have alot of that and another to do raid 1 in and mirror the main windows drive in case of issues the main may have so i wont loose any data. i'd get WD's 3 tb hdd they came out with but they are expensive as all hell. and i dont like segate, the reviews i have been seeing lately on their drives has been really disappointing. so for now i want to stick to WD. another reason i want separate drives instead of partitioning a 2 or 3 tb drive is because assume something happens and the drive fails i dont want to loose all that data from everything i had. so if 1 hdd fails i only loose the info on that drive in particular. i know this sounds pointless and i know drives dont fail often but its just my way of added protection. as pointless as it may seam to others. and trust me. i will fill them up. i have 2 500gig hdd's in my laptop right now and they are full only 45 gigs left (they are in raid 0) and i have a external segate 3tb drive which has over 2tb used already. so i know i will use the space.
you are right and i did watch a video that showed the results while the amd cpu does compare or beat intel's 3770k and its 3820 chip it doesnt mean they are bad chips and are over priced. that are great cpus and compare plenty fine with amd's line up. it is all preferance and choice really.
i know how to set up a loop and i have no issues with doing so but it is alot more work and monthly maitenance. so i'd like to keep it to liquid closed loop on cpu and air on the gpu. if i do my 670 it will be MSI's twin frozr 670's so the temps will be good.
