216 should get you further...
good question.. a lot depends on the price... because performance is almost identical... the overclocked versions like the BFG OCX are faster than the 4870 by a few fps...
what motherboard do you have? that will also help us answer...
Don't get the bfg model, their step up program is a joke, they determine the price of the card.. get the evga version if your going to get that card.
and the 55nm version has results around the gtx 280
so i say go for the core 216 will run cooler and run faster and the step up program is good
ya these cards are close and they pretty much trade wins differing from game to game, resolution to res filters on filters off ect. if ones better its only a hair better.
id just get what you would prefer to have your system built on.

and that's not the 55nm version

I read some stuff on evga's forums about people having trouble with what they are calling a "pink screen of death" when using the EVGA model Gtx 260 Core 216. You might want to look around their forums and see what it's all about.
I have an ati p35 board. but i will be getting an nvidia soon so i can use my 8600 gts as an phsyx card.
since the 260 is an overall better card, i guess i should get that one instead of the 4870 1GB edition

Why are they only using 4 AA in all the tests? Why not 8?
idk.. alot review sites only benchmark crysis on medium.. its like wtf who plays crysis for medium graphics, especially benchmarking
I was considering selling my 9800 GTX+ and getting that 4870. I'm using a P45 board, so I might get one and Cfire in the future.
i just got the regular HIS 4870 512mb version for $199 and free shipping.. i'm not too worried about getting the 1gb version.

that is a bad graph... for one... it is only far cry 2... and the GTX 260 is not faster in every game... just maybe most... also, the difference is 8fps... and the graph makes it look like it is twice as fast...
it all depends on which graph you grab...
EVGA 9800GTX+ 1 GB for $200
You CANNOT beat this price.
I fucking dare you.
Go ahead, try to name a better deal.
