Which headset with my onboard audio

Hi guys

I want to get a new gaming headset. I live in the Netherlands so prices a bit different out here then in the usa. I have to choose from the: HyperX Cloud(usb), Steelseries Siberia V2 (no usb) or the Plantronics GameCom 788 7.1 (usb).

This would be a easy choice to get the HyperX Cloud. But here is the problem. I have on-board audio, the Realtek ALC662 to be precise. Logan said that in his review it needs 60 Ohms and that it sounds muddy with on-board audio. So should I get the Siber V2 because it doesn't have such high Ohms requirements or the GameCom 788 because it has a usb connector (or would that also be restricted by the on-board?).

I am a total audio noob. I do not even know what Ohms are (derp).

Here are my full pc specs if needed:

  • Intel Pentium G3258 (overclocked to 4.0 ghz)
  • Asrock H81M-HDS
  • 4gb 1333 mhz of HyperX fury ram
  • Sapphire HD 7950 Boost OC edition
  • Cooler Master G550M
  • Seagate Berracuda HDD
  • Corsair Spec-01 case

Hope you guys can help me out.

Steelseries Siberia V2

I've had good sound come out of a cheap USB Logitech cans so I don't think you will be disappointed. Analogs almost never translate into great sound when using on board audio but since you're on a budget try the 788s, that should have its own sound card built in.

Note that RealTek doesn't always have its 5.1, 7.1 running upon set up. If its not an option to select in the software, you must open your audio driver and enable it.

So you think the Gamecom 788 will provide better audio than the HyperX Cloud in my instance? They are for me the same price

The HyperX Cloud is the best headset in its pricerange,

But will it performe good with my Realtek ALC662?
