So I will be pushing these with my Creative ZxR Sound Card, I will be listing to all types of music and enjoy a little extra bass but want nice clarity as well. I have been using a Logitech G930 so I know all of these will be a HUGE upgrade but with the info given, what would you recommend I buy. I am looking for MAX $220 to spend. Comfort is big on the priority list thats why there are mostly Beyerdynamic as I have not read one thing negative about comfort.
I think I can slightly vouch for AKG's sound. I've got the K702s, which are basically the K612s with slightly less bass. I've just used the equaliser in foobar to get a sound that I like for music. I really like the flat response in gaming. The K612 will have a bit more impact in games and with music, which is good considering you like bass. The sound stage on both of the K612s and the K702s is excellent. The build quality is okay, but nothing to write home about.
I've never tried the DT880s or DT990s, so sorry, I can't do a comparison. Don't take what I've said as gospel, I'm biased as hell.
Edit: Comfort wise, they're so light and comfortable that I forget I'm wearing them sometimes.
Ive used the k701s and dt880s there fairly similar. The dt880s are super comfy though not sure what the 612s are like comfort wise but the dt880 are great.
I'm using the K612pro and find them very comfy. I have a rather big head (8 1/8" hat size) and wear glasses and I have no issues wearing the K612s a wohle evening of gaming. (I also have a modmic attached to them.)
My brother is using a pair of DT880s for gaming and he is very happy with them too.
IMHO both are a great Headphones and you cant do anything wrong with any of them!
