Which GTX 980

Heyho fellow members of the syndicate

I'll upgrade my computer in January with a GTX 980 and I was wondering what's the best version I could get?

I'm not in the loop of GPU coolers at the moment and so I was wondering of some of you could help. I want at least two DVI and two HDMI any display ports are obviously also nice. Aside from the ports silence at idle is very important to me. Ideally something passively cooled at idle. My case is VERY well ventilated to that shouldn't be the issue. Looks aren't an issue but please only dual slot no triple slot card.

If one of you knows anything please tell me I'd appreciate it.

The ASUS Strix 980 is great, it's fans don't run idle until a certain temperature threshold and it has 3 display ports, 1 DVI and 1 HDMI. I don't have this card or this cooler but have heard great things about it so i would recommend it strongly.

IMO the best 980 is a 970. It's only a little bit slower and so much cheaper. I think the 980 is silly. Also if you're wating until then you might wanna see what AMD is putting out. Looks very interesting.

It really doesnt matter with the 980 or 970 though. They don't put out much heat so even a reference design is fine unless you're gonna be doing serious OCing. The Asus model and the ACX 2.0 from EVGA are solid recommendations.

AMP! Omega/Extreme, Or EVGA Classified or Gigabyte G1: They're highly binned chips. I'd avoid the Asus since they're new pipe design in their Direct CUII doesn't make contact with the memory chips. I've heard fan problems with MSI's too (fan curve problems, and lots of coil whine batches).
