Just from the number I can tell it's probably a pretty low end GPU, but I haven't done much, if any, research on the new cards coming out. I have to wonder how it performs in comparison to an HD 7770 or 7790 though.
Honestly, i think minecraft is the worst game ever created. The only games that I would ever play would be mostly consisting of the old gtas (3,sanandreas,vicecity) crysis 2, a couple need for speeds and all of them run on pretty much anything, and some other crap. I've found a card that SMOKES even an r9 260 and is wayyy cheaper than any of the options you have suggested. can't tell you what it is because I don't want anyone else to buy it. I'm also looking at a used 650.

I said it as a joke. It's just that most people ask if a system can run Minecraft at high setting with 30fps+ but i know that not everyone likes Minecraft. I would definitely like to know what card that is that can "SMOKE" the r9 260 and is way cheaper ;). And the only thing with buying used cards is how the original owner(s) used it. Did they overclock it? But thats just me.

Trust me I'm not a fan boy. Although I do prefer AMD, this card is going to run with a Celeron g555 and 3 gb of non matching ram. The card I'm looking at is on amazon is a gtx 280 with stock overclock. its only $65 used, and i want no one else to buy it considering that the rest I've seen are $100+. I don't care how well used the card is because this machine will get used maybe 2 times a week if I'm lucky. And if i get the 280 ill save enough to buy a cpu for my mom.

I have a 7770 (the msi version) and it works great! I'd recommend that.
An Hd 7770 would beat the Gtx280, aswell as being newer and using half the power, but then it costs a little bit more.
THE NEAREST MICRO CENTER IS 300 MILES AWAY FROM ME! sadly there is nothing but a gamestop and small time repair shops here as for electronics, and considering the closest best buy wants $80 for a gtx 620 im buying an overclocked gtx 280 for $65 which KILLS THE 250,AND 6670. decision made card orderd. now i just need to rig up a couple psu's
