The 770 is better for gaming. But, don't get the ASUS. Get this one:http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-SuperClocked-Graphics-02G-P4-2774-KR/dp/B00CZIQXBA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1400700213&sr=8-1&keywords=EVGA+770
EVGA has a MUCH better cooler, and faster clocks. And it is cheaper.
The 280X actually pulls ahead in quite a few games its not quite as clear cut as this one is better for gaming, they both perform very similarly overall each does better in some games than the other
which one is better depends a lot more on the price and what games you eill be playing
Me id take the 280X purely because its a bit cheaper than the 770 but if you are after any specific features like GPU PhysX then the 770 is a perfectly good choice
Looks like I'll be going there for benchmarks now. I went to another place and they had like 6 benchmarks there. So the 280x is not really that much better. For price, the 280X is better. But if you need CUDA or PhysX like Kruzik said, the 770 is best.
280x's are going for about 349,99 and you can grab a r9 290 DCU II, MSI Twin Frozr IV, etc for around 440.00 (at least here in Canada). Personally I would spend the extra 100 bucks. The R9 290 blows the 280x out of the water, much more than 100 dollars worth I would say. I speak from experience, had 2 7970's previously, brother using 280x, and now I have 2 290's.
BF4 is not terribly demanding. An R9 270 would handle BF4 on ultra presets. I think the 280x is the better balanced and better performing card out of the given options. The R9 290 is a worthwhile consideration.
i would grab the R9-290. because the Price to performance is BEYOND STUPID, and i mean that in a good way. 400 bucks. you get similar or better performance than a GTX 780 AND it comes with 3 free games.
I have that sapphire 280x. Chose it over one of the less expensive 770s. There are little things I miss for the nvidia camp but I think its the better choice overall.
It is a solid performer for $290 and I suspect you will appreciate the extra gb of vram over the next couple years.
...on BF4? I get 60FPS the majority of the time on a 1440p panel with the 780. I'll have a look at my settings later. It's ultra presets and then some.
Plenty of videos of the R7 265 and the 750ti playing BF4 on high presets 1080p, or a mixture of high and medium specifically for the 750ti. 270 should play it on ultra presets fine. Plenty of video reviews and benchmarks that would confirm that.
Well, I got suckered in. I must say, I did put 150-160 hours into BF4. It's been a bit of an up-down ride, but I haven't played it for a week or more. I've had fun with the game, but I am also really disappointed with it. I always tell myself that I won't purchase EA games! There's so many better alternatives.
I like the R9 280 more but I am an AMD person so yeah. But like others have been saying, if you can save a little more and get an R9 290 that will be way better.
