Last and Finally I am having trouble finding the right GPU. I have some in mind... but feel free to share insight and suggestions. It needs to be an intel based chip for the cuda cores. Other than that IDC which manufacturer it is.
GPU: (EVGA)
Please also feel free to give any advise about any and everything. This is my first self build... I am willing to bend to the advice of the comunity. :)
Go for Z77 or Z87 and invest in a better GPU. A 3770k or 4770k is going to out-perform a 3820 in all single-core and multi-core applications. Only go X79 if you have enough money for multiple high-end GPUs (670s/7950s), are getting two or more of them, and can shell out enough for a 3930k.
Hawever, I'd get an MSI 7950, or MSI 7970 for that price. More performance, better cooler, fantastic looks, fully unlocked voltage for overclocking, insane price/performance (especially the 7950), and overall a stronger architecture, based on OpenCL.
So if I go with a 3930k (Thinking about it now.) Which GPU would suggest I go with?
Depends on your uses of the system. If this is primarily for gaming, I would recommend a different platform, as Brennan suggested. That way you could get a much better GPU.
You have to tell us a little more. What kind of games will you be playing? What display(s) do you have? Are you editing? What programs will you use? That way we can offer something with Cuda technology, et cetera. Tailor it to you.
