Which GPU for an upgrade from a HD 6870?

Im running a sapphire 6870 vapor-x and i want to upgrade it.

These are the requirements I need met.....

Will be only used for gaming,the price will be below 250$, do not care if its amd or nvidia.

Im not overclocking. Its going to run on single monitor 1080p

7870xt or 7950 would be your best bet i would think.

7870xt is going to be the best.  I went form a 6870 to a 660ti and it was a great upgrade the 7870xt is similar performace.

I would definitely stay with AMD just because it has the best price to performance ratio. Only go with Nvidia if you plan on edit video, etc.
