I am building a gaming pc and need help picking my CPU. I have two CPU options Intel Core i3 3220 or the AMD FX-6100 I will be gaming 98.97% of the time. So which CPU is better. I can OC (over clock for those that don't know) so keep that in mind.

I will recommen the Intel Core i3-3240. It's identical to the i3-3220. But the i3-3240 is clocked at 3.4GHz wheraz the i3-3220 is clocked at 3.3ghz. And games today don't use more than two cores. And intel is known to be faster than AMD. so I would go for the i3-3240.
Why the FX6100? Why not the FX6300 or even the FX4300? Foc OC fun, the FX 6300 directly competes with the i3 at stock clocks, overclock the FX6300 and now it beats the i3 in gaming. Given that they are roughly the same price, the i3 has a hard time especially if the user wants to play with OC'ing. Now if you are dead set on the FX6100, i3 is the way to go for sure as the bulldozer cpu's are not recomended.
Many games use more than 2 cores,
Battlefield 3? and etc.

Almost no difference between them.
I would try as hard as you can to try and get either a 2nd or 3rd generation core i5. It has significantly better performance than an i3 or 6100 and 6300. Try to look for a deal on an i5 2300/2400. Ebay perhaps?
