Hi fellas! I'm back again with a question for you but now it's not an easy one: my parents want to put a present for me too under the tree and asked me what I would like to have. I said that I'm going to think about it but, as of right now, I still don't know what I might like to get. I'm a pretty utilitarian person and I think I don't need anything. That's why I'm asking all of you, dear friends, to help me out (if you'd like to, obiviously) pick something I might like, maybe for not too much money.
Brief notes about me that might mean something:
I'm an utilitarian kind of person so gimmicky stuff useful just to show are not my thing;
I have a working laptop and desktop that don't need upgrades of any kind;
technology related things are the sweetes treat I may ask for;
smartphone's doing good (a new one would be like 300-400€ to have one that lasts many years so completly out of my budget);
I'm studing informatic engineering at university;
if it's RGB surely costs way too much that it should;
I don't think I need any peripheral;
If you have any other question feel free to ask me. Sorry for the wall of text and thanks for all the answers and the help!
Thanks a lot to all of you for the precious answers.
@DeViLzzz We already donate periodically to charity associations and my parents, as I said, wanted to put something under the Christmas tree for me too.
Something like those kits of screwdrivers will tickle my autism too much and I will start tearing apart anything that comes under my hands hahahaha Thanks a lot for the suggestions!
No unfortunately not. I myself am only starting down the AMP/DAC road. I have a few nice headphones nothing mindblowing and super expensive, mostly in the $100 range. And have only just ordered my first cheap Amp/DAC. A uDAC3 that was in massdrop. Work over USB power, driverless, will work on android to be portable. So only getting started.
I have eyes for one of the JDSLabs Objective 2 amp +ODAC kits. You buy the PCB case and components and solder the whole thing together, works out a little cheaper but not miles. The O2 amp with the Second DAC PCB to make it a complete self contained unit is supposed to be very good and quite highly regarded as a first bit of kit that will not break the bank. You can if course buy them pre assembled either as a single box all in one amp/DAC or as two separate boxes, an amp with the option for portable battery power (you lose the battery in the all in one option) and a DAC in a second black box the same size as the AMP that you stack on top of each other so they are still separate.
But first the cheap portable amp/DAC to see if I really want to spend more later on.
Other people will know more than I about these things, poke around the headphone section of the forum.
