Thats pretty damn cheap, but how come get the sapphire?

best quality for double slot gpu's. asus is good, but their cards take up 3 expansion slots, and usually are $50 more.

I was thinking of getting the lightning 7970, although thats quite a lot more than the saphire

7950 is probably the more equitable option. You get the exact performance if not a bit better but only when when overclocked. If you're willing to put in 20-30 min to test some stable benchmarks then you can save yourself fifty quid or more.

Also, I wanted to add, you get all those free games with the 7950 just like you do with the 7970.

I'd reccomend a GTX 670 to anyone over a 680 just because when you start purchasing the top of the line top models the price VS. performance doesn't balance out. Unless you're gaming on 5 monitors there is no point in getting the best of the best. But if that's the case, and you can afford multiple monitors, then you can afford a sweet SLI or Crossfire set up. So if we're not talking multiple cards then the 7950 is going to be your best price vs. performance AMD option.  1080p 1920X1080 you'll be just fine with a 7950 for a couple years on ultra/high settings. If you're at higher resolutions, you'll be fine on High with medium/high post processing.

srsly..... most of what you say is stupid....

linus wants to tell u something:

Most of what I say is my honest opinion based on plenty of professional opinions. You don't agree? Great let's have a fucking conversation instead of being a asshole antagonist about it. Explain to me why suggesting a 7950 over a 7970 is a bad idea?

7950. 7970, or GTX 680 - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/350443-33-7950-7970

Note the BEST ANSWER award. Hmmmmm. Similar to what I just said?

Only logical explanation is that you're trollin' hard. You need some sleep. Go back under your bridge.

Online History

Etymology

The etymological root of the word “troll” is generally attributed to hunting and fishing jargons. According to the Online Etymology Dictionary[8], the noun “troll” originated from an Old Norse word for a type of monstrous creature and the verb to troll comes from the Old French hunting term “troller.” According to Merriam-Webster[9], the English verb to trollrefers to the act of slowly dragging a lure while fishing as bait.

Early Usage

The contemporary use of the term is alleged to have appeared on the Internet in the late 1980s, but the earliest known mention of the word “troll” on record can be found in a post on the Usenet newsgroup alt.folklore.urban from December 14th, 1992. The term continued to grow popular in the early 1990s through its usage in the Usenet group alt.folklore.urban and by the late 1990s, the alt.folklore.urban newsgroup had such heavy traffic and participation that acts of trolling became frowned upon. Prior to the widespread use of the term “trolling,” similar behaviors have been observed through “griefing,” the act of intentionally causing distress to other players in an online game, since the days of Multi-User Dungeons (MUDs) in the late 1980s and “flaming,” the act of instigating hostility or unpleasant exchanges in online forums, which also emerged through Usenet newsgroup discussions.

The Rules of the Internet

The Rules of the Internet a list of protocols and conventions, originally written to serve as a guide for those who identified themselves with the Internet group Anonymous. By looking at the Rules of the Internet, one can understand the patterns of behaviors behind anonymous trolls:

  • Rules 8 and 9 describe the free-for-all environment of anonymous interactions on 4chan:
8.There are no real rules about posting.
9.There are no real rules about moderation either – enjoy your ban.

  • Rules 11-15 describe exactly what one can expect when confronting a troll:
11.All your carefully picked arguments can easily be ignored.
12.Anything you say can and will be used against you.
13.Anything you say can be turned into something else – fixed.
14.Do not argue with trolls – it means that they win.
15.The harder you try the harder you will fail.

  • Rules 18 and 19 reinforce the presence of trolls and the nihilism behind the trolling behavior:
18.Everything that can be labeled can be hated.
19.The more you hate it the stronger it gets.

  • Rule 20 is perhaps the most important rule of all and best defense against trolls:
Rule 20. Nothing is to be taken seriously!

  • Rule 39 is an example of some good-natured trolling. The annoyance caused by CAPSLOCK is widely recognized, so to say that it is “cruise control for cool” is one of the few instances that sarcasm is able to carry over to text without much effort:
39. CAPSLOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL

  • Rule 42 and 43 are statements that apply not only to the motivation behind trolls, but also to a warped sense of catharsis that some have experienced through observing trolls:
42.Nothing is Sacred
43.The more beautiful and pure a thing is – the more satisfying it is to corrupt it.

dude, the 7970 outperforms the 680 by far, and if he's looking at that kind of budget, why get the card with less stream processors.....

if he didn't have the budget for the 7970, yeah, get the 7950, it's not a bad card, it's just, the 7970 is better

the lightning 7970 is the ghz edition, which come oc'd. you can easily oc the sapphire yourself.....

and about 80% of the time, what canuk says is pretty dumb, but occasionally i do see him making good reccomendations.....

it is not my primary intent to trolll.... and I am familiar with the rules of the interwebs... by implying that they are true, are you implying that pistol is really a 45 year old guy in his mom's basement?

and not that I do not capslock constantly, reserving it for special emphasis

I could go on, but that would not help anyone, and would likely degrade into trolling....

At this point, there's no turning back. You've got difinitive Troll status pasted all over you now. Labeled until you lose that 3rd reich inspired Avatar and the self felating title.

?????

how does warhammer 40k relate at all to hitler????

and it's not like I just picked this username for this site, it's just my general username for most places I go.....

you do not want to go down this path with me.

So you boys have gone full retard today huh?

Honestly, you're right. No. but now you're indirectly threatening me.

If you have a problem with what I have to say, then refute it based on what you feel is weak, lacking, or missing from my arguemnts.

Don't attack me when I've done nothing prior to getting to attacked by you, to antagonize anyone on this forum.

Let's have a conversation about how you disagree with me. And I'll be willing to see your point if you present sufficient evidence. Throwing baseless insults at me is only going to get you into an argument where nothing gets solved.

More or less. I'm probably the only one regretting wasting time on this though.

perhaps 2 memes in one thread was a bit excessive, however, he resonded by calling me a troll, which is minor and really wouldn't piss me off, but then he decided to imply that I am a nazi, which I find very offencive.
