Where's the GTX 1080 at?

So when will we start seeing the 1080 on the market at it's actual price point. Not the $900+ on random sites.

Soon, probably 2-3 weeks.

RX 480 comes out the 29th. Nvidia will want to have a decent amount of stock sold before then. My guess would be that Nvidia is holding back on giving board partners too many chips so they can milk that $100 premium on founder's edition.

There is quite a shortage of Gddr5x right now. So of course, the only thing Nvidia could do is artificially raise the prices. Logic.
However, the sheeple already made Nvidia quite the money. It already is the top of the most popular cards in pcpartpicker.com... If you want lower than FU edition card - I don't think any company will just like that give up their profit margins... So no, I don't expect those 1080 with the noisy overheating coolers for 599 to see the light of day any time in the next month or two...

There are people out there trying to milk money from fools. Founders editions can be had for 699 at the moment if you go to the right place and are willing to pay more for a disappointing cooler. Cards with aftermarket coolers start hitting the shelves the 16th i believe. You should be able to find them around msrp around then if you are a savvy enough shopper.

Just the answer I was looking for. Thanks!

Well the founders edition will come out for $699 from retailers. I see that on Amazon and NCIX. But I was just wondering when they'd come out. Looks like sometime around the 12th or what spite said the nicer aftermarket ones will be the 16th or so.

You realize they will be more expensive than 700$, right? I have no faith in humanity, so I fully expect the aftermarket cards to reach 800+... After all, Nvidia started the race from 700...
My personal recommendation: if you really want to get 1080, get the cheapest one you could possibly find. The reviews I have seen, no matter the better cooling or the extra power, there is no performance difference than the stock 1080... So the best thing is just to get the cheapest one.

Yeah I get that. The main question I had in the thread was when the regular 1080 and Founders would be released at their $599/$699 price point. I know aftermarket is going to be more expensive but a lot of third party retailers had the regular founders card at like $1000 right now haha.

Prices have already been released for some of the models, and they all comfortably stay under $700.

Anything with more power and better cooling will have better performance. That is why GPU boost exists. That is why overclocking exists. The benefits might be negligible, 2-4 frames.... but you can't say there isn't a performance difference.

I bought a 1080 for 550$ (taking tax/dumb price stuff in my counter/etc into account) just 2 days after launch..

Really soon. Sometime this month I hear.
