I'd had a working vga passthrough build with Xeon E3, MSI GD55 on Archlinux, passing through my GTX970 to Windows guest. However, my mobo went broken last month, so I decided to build a new PC.
When I was doing my online shopping for my new build, I start to wondering that how can I find the mobo default Iommou group before purchasing it? On my GD55, the first and the second PCIE3 are in the same group which leads only slot 3 for my GTX970. Because my case is not that big, so there is almost no clearance between my GTX970 on the third PCIE slot and my PSU, my gpu performance suffered from heat issue a lot.
After watching Tek hardware review, I am interested in ASROCK Taichi, M.2 with PCIE3x4 and Samsung 950 just sounds irresistible.
If anyone knows where to find IOMMU group info of the ASROCK Taichi, please pass me a link.
